Abstract:

The article reports on the possibility of cancer nurses to suffer vicarious trauma after caring for cancer patients in Great Britain. A nurse researcher found out that nurses will feel alienated from themselves as an outcome of caring for these kinds of patient. The effects of secondary trauma on nurses include feelings of a lack of control and power and changes to world view, spirituality and identity.
